customers may be eligible to receive the following assisted core services:
- Staff-assisted job search and placement assistance, including career
counseling
- Staff assisted individual job development
- Staff-assisted Job Clubs
- Staff-assisted referrals
- Follow-up services
If the customer is unable to obtain employment at a self-sufficiency wage using these
services the next level of service maybe implemented.
Intensive Services are intended
to determine the cause of a customers inability to find employment, and to develop a
plan of action to eliminate those obstacles and barriers to their employment. The WIA
Career
Specialist will work with the customer to identify those barriers and obstacles and develop a
plan of action to eliminate them. The first task is to accomplish a comprehensive
assessment of "Strengths, Obstacles, Barriers, Needs, Aptitudes and Skills". Using the
assessment, the Career Specialist and customer jointly determine what service and actions are
appropriate and necessary to eliminate barriers and emphasize/enhance strengths. Work First is the goal, but not just any job, but in an occupation that will
earn the client a self-sufficiency wage. If training is required to reach
self-sufficiency, the Career Specialist will recommend a program that is selected by the
customer from the Target
Occupation List and training available from
Certified Training
Providers.
