Training Solutions
-
Identification of Skill Shortages:
Using Labor Market
Information, skills shortages are identified and occupations are
targeted for the needs of local employers.
-
Wage Subsidies/On the Job Training: Several
programs in Texas help employers take advantage of public sector worker
training dollars. These often-untapped resources provide funds to
eligible public colleges and private organizations to provide customized
training and wage subsidies to employers willing to hire persons who are
eligible for special programs provided by the Center. For more information
see TWC On-The-Job or Customized Training web page or contact our office.
-
Customized Training: In cases where helping
existing workers acquire or expand their skill base will create or save
jobs, funds are available that allow local community and technical
colleges to collaborate with local employers to provide customized
training. The Employer Services Division is available to help local
employers in drafting an application for funds, complete with necessary
labor market information to document the anticipated positive employment
and economic impacts of the proposal. For more information see TWC
Employee Training Programs and Funding web page or contact our office.
-
Enhancing Internal Mobility: Workers who acquire
new skills and knowledge demonstrate enhanced productivity. The Employer
Services Division can assist employers with arranging for on-site pursuit
of degrees or adult basic education, facilitate industry-wide recruiting
and training efforts for employers in the same sector of the economy, and
work with employers to influence and shape education and training
priorities in our community. For more information see TWC
On-The-Job or Customized Training web page or contact our office.
