Understanding Labor Law & Workplace Regulations:
Interpretation of many labor laws affecting small and medium-sized business can be challenging.  Workforce Solutions of the Concho Valley can reliably supply employers with technical assistance on existing regulations such as filing unemployment insurance claims and certifying immigrant labor.

Required Posters for the Workplace:
Various laws require employers to display several posters in the workplace.  These posters are free through the following link.
Outreach and Recruiting Programs:
In times of low unemployment, attracting and retaining a skilled labor force is a primary concern.  Workforce Solutions provides assistance and support to encourage employers to explore potential workers not previously considered, such as expanding immigration potential, taking advantage of demographic diversity and introducing younger workers to their businesses. Hiring and Firing Practices: Writing a Job Description:
Drafting and refining occupational job descriptions using the federal initiative O*Net produce profiles that include statements about the tasks and duties of a job, characteristics of the work, and the temperaments and attitudes critical to satisfactory job performance. Developing Job Interview Questions:
EEOC standards require interviewers to have detailed occupational knowledge.  To avoid any appearance of impropriety or preferential hiring practices, the interviewer must be familiar with the pertinent tasks and duties of the job.  The O*Net database is ideal for this purpose. Doing Business with State and Federal Government:
Negotiating the public sector marketplace can pose a challenge to private sector businesses. Many small businesses, especially those that qualify as Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), can benefit from knowing which state and local government entities are issuing products and services.
